Potted History

Childhood was largely spent in the Rusland Valley where a keen interest in the natural world was developed.  This interest led to three years studying  Scientific Illustration at Blackpool's renowned Technical College following a visit by one of the college's lecturers artist Keith Woods to Ulverston 6th form.  At Blackpool  biological processes, science and photography featured as well as life drawing.  The course was unique in its breadth.

LONDON:  Following college there was a stint in London's Shepherd's Bush working for a company specialising in commercial screen printing,  This was followed by a return to Cumbria and family life.

INTERPRETATION:  Bespoke interpretation panels for clients such as the National Trust, Rydal Hall and Local Authorities.

WORKSHOPS:  From working with primary schools creating Wildlife Sound Pictures at the Coniston Water Festival to secondary schools and adults looking at "Future Language."   Demonstrations and workshops are part of my art practice including working with art societies to explore aspects of painting the world of wildlife and more.

Underpinning all my work is a love of the natural world.
